You Made That? Top Recipes from 2012

in Tidbits & Miscellaneous

Well it’s been a good year over all for You Made That? blog.  I’ve had fun cooking and baking this year, believe it or not I made a goal to try to do more cooking and less baking.  I thought I did okay on that goal but there is plenty of room for improvement   My creativity just doesn’t come easily for cooking but it does for baking.  I again will make the goal to cook more and bake less since the more baking I do the more eating of it I do :).

It’s hard to believe that this blog is almost 3 years old {in April}. Each new year I  learn more about cooking, blogging and photography.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey and I’ve met some really wonderful people through blogging that I call friends.  I also appreciate my readers those who comment and those who silently support me. In the picture below I share the high lights from the year and then a few of my all time favorite recipes from the year, finally what readers said by statistics of course is their favorite.  Do you have a favorite recipe from You Made That?   Let me know what your  favorite recipe from this past year was.

Aunt Cyndi’s Fresh Apple Cake
Homemade Granola
Rocket Rolls
Chocolate Lover’s Fudge Brownies
Chocolate Almond Pudding
Homemade Soft Bread Sticks
Chocolate Banana Bread
Greek Quinoa Salad
Italian Lentil Soup
White Texas Sheet Cake
Light Fruity Orzo Salad with citrus Vinaigrette
Berry Protein Shake
Peanut-butter Cup pie
Lemon Olive Oil Roasted Carrots
Low-fat Eggplant Parmesan
Italian Cream Cake
Honey Lime Ginger Chicken thighs
Berry Yogurt Parfaits with Granola
Chocolate covered nut brittle
Blueberry Hand Pies
Easy Apple Walnut Pastry with Buttermilk sauce
Citrus Candied Nuts
Grilled Portabellos stuffed with quinoa & veggies
Roasted garlic, avocado, tomato chicken melt

My favorite recipes from this year are hard to narrow down to three but hard to believe I didn’t pick three sweets:

3) Low-fat eggplant parmesan that I shared on The Mother Huddle it is so flavor packed and delicious.

2) Steamed Top Neck Clams are easy, flavorful beyond belief and I really can’t believe I made these and liked them!

1)  Italian Cream Cake is rich and full of coconut and pecans and super moist with a creamy frosting you will love.

Now for the top 5 recipes that were most popular:

5) Roasted sweet potatoes and applesnot so likely to cook these together but it’s healthy, delicious and can be flavored the way you like by adding more sugar and spice and everything nice.

4) Rocket RollsAll I have to say is I love, love, love these rocket rolls and so glad I found the recipe it’s a must make one.

3) Photo a day challengethis one surprises me, I’d like to think that tons of people like my photos but I know the reason why it’s in the top 5 is that people google search for photo a month challenge.  If you haven’t tried a photo a month challenge then you should it’s fun and more challenging than you might think.

2) Homemade Granola thanks to my friends on pinterest this one has recently been noticed and soared to the top, you will love this recipe, it’s easy, versatile and delicious.

1) Warm Bacon & Cheese dip– this one is a total fluke to me because my sister-in-law is the one who made his lovely dip and it was so tasty that I snapped the photos and put it on my blog.  How could anyone not like warm bacon and cream cheese mixed together, it’s so not calorie free but oh so worth it.

Happy New Year Suzanne! I’m so happy to have gotten to know you this year in blogland! I love all your recipes and have no idea how you find the time to blog with, not only your children but also a foreign exchange student. I have loved all your recipes but looking at these photos I have to say that, after looking at these delicious photos, I’m torn between the yummy looking granola and those stunning apples and sweet potatoes!

Hello Suzanne!
I wanted to like your page on facebook, but the fb button on top of your page does not work for me. It links to my facebook start page and not to your page. I tried searching for ‘you made that’ but I wasn’t succesful.
Can you send me the direct link to you fb page?
thanks

Thank you very much for following me on facebook Suzanne! You are the first person from ‘overseas’ to like it I am sorry but I have to say that I can still not reach your facebook page! I tried to type it in manually but it still redirects me to the home.php page. I have tried it with two different explorers (windows internet explorer and google chrome) but I still have the same problem. Maybe it is only a problem I have? I will keep on trying
