Strawberry delight @www.you-made-that.comThis recipe is one of my childhood favorite dessert recipes.  My mom wasn’t big into making desserts but this was the one I remember that she made and it was the best!  It’s easy to make and feeds a crowd. Strawberries are delicious this time of year (well anytime for me).  Hope you enjoy this family favorite.

Strawberry Delight

Ingredients:
1 cup of hot water (boiling)
1/2 cup. sugar
1 small package of strawberry jello
1 loaf of angel food cake
2 cups sliced strawberries
1  1/2 cup of whipping cream

Directions:
Step 1: In a 9X13 in. pan tear angel food cake into pieces, set aside.
Step 2: In 4 cup  glass measuring cup heat water to boiling in microwave oven, add jello and sugar and stir until dissolved.  Put in the refrigerator to cool.
Step 3: While jello is cooling, wash, dry  and cut strawberries up.  When jello is cool not set add the strawberries to it.
Step 4: In another bowl whip the cream until soft peaks not stiff.  Slowly add strawberry jello mixture to the whipping cream and stir.
Step 5: Pour this mixture over the angel food cake and stir well until all pieces of cake are covered with mixture.  Refrigerate until firm 4 to 5 hours or overnight.Garnish with a dollop of cream and fresh berries.

Note: I have made this sugar-free for diabetics using splenda with sugar-free jello and sugar-free angel food cake and it’s still delicious. To make it lower in fat you can use cool whip instead of whipping cream.
