Sliders~Hawaiian Style

Sliders are so much fun to make and eat.  Anything little is cute but these little sliders are packed with flavor. Ground white meat turkey is almost completely fat free so adding the veggies and bread crumbs to the meat is a must.  You may use hamburger but the flavor will be different because turkey is so mild more of the flavor of ginger and garlic will come through.  The pineapple adds the sweetness, ginger and hoisin sauce give these sliders a unique taste you will love.  If you can’t find hoisin sauce then teriyaki will do.

Sliders~Hawaiian Style

Ingredients:
1 pound  ground turkey
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1 T soy sauce
1 garlic clove minced or pressed
1 cup hoisin sauce (found in Asian section of store)
14  small Hawaiian dinner rolls

Directions:

Step 1: In medium size bowl combine ground turkey, crumbs, bell peppers, onions, garlic, ginger root, soy sauce, 1/4 cup of pineapple juice.  Mix ingredients together and form small round patties about the size of your buns.  Turkey will not shrink like regular hamburger so make your patties the size of the buns.
Step 2: Grill on medium heat  only turning once, burger should not stick if it is left alone long enough to cook the meat.  Grill until juices run clear.  Bast with hoisin sauce while on grill.
Step 3: Grill pineapple for 5 min. also basting with hoisin sauce.
Step 4: Grill bread if desired.
Makes:   14 sliders.
Serve with fruit or salad for a meal or serve as snack or appetizer for a party.

As always, great idea! A not-so-ordinary use for ground turkey.
