Pinkpolkadot cookiesValentine’s Day is almost here and it’s time for some pink hearts to help celebrate the day of love. Pink is my favorite color, and sugar cookies with frosting are seriously one of my favorite things to eat.  I just loved making these cute little hearts and though they are not perfect I am learning to decorate cookies with royal frosting and how to flood them. I’ve been admiring decorated cookies like these for a long time so I’m quite proud that I finally did it.  The recipe I used for the cookies is simply the best for decorating with royal icing because they are not too sweet.

heart cookie CollageSince I’m new to this type of decorating I’ve learned some do’s and don’ts that I would like to share with you if your interested in trying your hand at these. I am guest posting today over at my friend Claudia’s blog Delicious Spaces so please hop on over to her space and give her a shout out.  Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!

I love the simplicity of sugar cookies. Cookie-decorating is my eldest daughter’s favorite baking activity with me – if only it doesn’t get so messy…LOL! We have these royal icing squeeze tubes also, and they are such wonderful tools! Better than using piping bags, that’s for sure, since I find you have more control with squeeze bottles. Cute cookies! My daughter saw them and LOVES them!

Awe thanks Jen, so glad your sweet daughter likes them. I know it’s messy for sure but you will be making some great memories for her.

Well, these look absolutely perfect to me. I have never decorated a cookie or used a piping tool. It’s all very intimidating to me. These are lovely, especially with the polka dot pattern. Love this!

Oh your cookies look fabulous! I was just watching a how to video on how to frost cookies. It is funny, I thought it would be so hard, but it looks more time consuming and fun:-) Beautiful, Hugs, Terra
