Homemade white nectarine ice-cream|www.you-made-that.comI am excited to share this recipe with you because it’s the first year my nectarine tree has yielded fruit besides one or two that the birds got before me. The nectarines look like peaches but inside is a beautiful white flesh with red around the pit. I adapted my ice cream recipe from Deep South Dish,  Southern Peach Ice Cream.

Homemade White Nectarine Ice Cream

Ingredients:
8 ripe white or regular nectarines (4 cups chopped)
1 cup sugar
1 lemon
1 12 oz. can of evaporated milk
1 3.75 package of Jello instant vanilla pudding
1 can 14 oz. sweetened condensed milk
2 cups half and half
2 cups heavy cream
Electric ice cream machine
Ice 5 pound bag
Rock Salt

Directions:
Step 1:   Peel nectarines with vegetable peeler and cut into chunks. In a med-large bowl pour sugar over nectarines and squeeze juice of one half of lemon onto fruit and mix with spoon. Let fruit sit for about an hour.
Step 2:  After an hour put nectarines in a food processor and pulse until almost all pureed.
Step 3:  In large bowl whisk the evaporated milk and pudding until well blended. Add the fruit, sweetened condensed milk, half and half, and whipping cream. Pour into ice cream maker and process as directed.
Step 4:  After the ice cream is done pour into freezer container and freeze until firm.
Makes 2 quarts.

I have a nectarine tree that pears an amazing amount of fruit just after Christmas (I live in the southern hemisphere). I'm always looking for new ways to use the bounty so thanks for sharing! I've filed away your recipe and will be sure to use it!

I recently began receiving your emails and this is about the 4th great ice cream recipe I have found when I follow the link of what you made, to your site. I live on a small island with only one small hardware store, but next time I go off island I am looking for an electric ice cream maker. You didn’t say how many calories this might be per serving. I am guessing about 8 billion calories a scoop, but WTH. 🙂

I love nectarines and your white nectarine pie looks delicious, too. I just found white nectarines in one of my two grocery stores this year, and they were delicious.

Your so sweet to tell me that. I have a big sweet tooth and ice-cream is one of my weaknesses 🙂 so that is why you’ll find lots of ice-cream recipes from me.
